I’m an American girl, now living in Denmark (just outside of Copenhagen) with my Danish husband and my DanAmerican son, Theo.  Though I’ve lived in Denmark for nearly two years now (and abroad for nearly three), there are some aspects of expat life that never fail to pop up and remind me that I don’t come from here.

I currently stay home with my one-year-old son, so I spend most of my days making food, cleaning food off the floor, and participating in Theo’s crazy games.  My slender amounts of free time are still spent baking, knitting, and (yes, still) watching Friends.

My husband, Andreas, is a computer programmer, and the perfect person for me.

This is a blog about family, friends, hobbying, pondering, being an expat, and lots of general life updates.

  1. Ah! I rarely watched Friends in America and watched it like 3 times a day when I moved to England. THREE TIMES! I just needed to confess that to you.

  2. Zeta, this is so very exciting! I wish I had known sooner that you’re blogging about your life and experiences! You’re a fascinating, dear lady and I am so happy to know you. Go remind Andreas what a lucky fellow he is! 😉

  3. Zeta! I am so glad you found me. Let’s keep in touch. My Sambo is a nerdy science guy in Gothenburg, Sweden, and I will be moving there in 2 very short months. Where in Sweden are you? If it should work out, it would be great to meet up and perhaps co-write a blog about an adventure abroad someday. I hope your homesickness has subsided for the time being. I look forward to “following” you via the blogosphere. Take care and hope to meet you some fine day! ~Corin

    • I love following other people’s trans-atlantic adventures, especially to Scandinavia! I live in Malmö right now, which is just on the southern tip of Sweden, across from Copenhagen, so a bit of a jaunt from Gothenburg, but not too bad! I think expats have a way of finding each other over here, so I think it’s totally possible we can meet up someday! I just made the move a few months ago, so I’m curious how your last bit of time in the US will compare to mine. Look forward to hearing more!

  5. I love your blog! I just stumbled across it but I too am married to a Dane. We live in the US but often debate about moving to Denmark… or Malmo after we’re done with school here :-/ Anyway, I find comfort in reading your posts. Thank you!

    • I’m so glad! I love hearing from people in a similar situation. I think the most comforting thing of all to hear is that you’re not alone in what you’re going through, feeling, etc. 🙂

  6. I am so late responding to your lovely comment on our blog, but I have a few good reasons! If you’ve checked back at all you’ll note that I am now the proud mother of a one-week old baby and that I spent most of the last week being displaced because of a terrible storm we had here in NY!

But! I was so happy when I read your comment (out loud to my husband)!! And I said, “gee! I wonder where she lives!!” Because we have such a ridiculous time tryin to find like-minded souls around here.

Imagine my disappointment when I read the title of your blog!

Oh well, cyber-friends we shall be, then!

Thanks for the sweet words and if you’re ever in New York we do sometimes get tired of two person Fluxx tournaments. 🙂

    • I definitely checked back and saw your beautiful baby, and I hope things have settled down with the storm aftermath. I actually have a best friend who lives in Brooklyn, so I’ve got ties with New York! My husband and I had a few good rounds of Fluxx on the floor of our new empty apartment the other day as we waited for our IKEA delivery, and I thought of you again.

  8. I just had to say that I’m a former English major who loves to knit, bake, watch Friends and am married to a computer programmer. I look forward to reading more of your blog!
